About the Photographer
Yohan Terraza
"It took me years to really understand what being a photographer was for me: a simple way of telling the stories that fall silent between the lines.
Cross a desert, photograph at night, be awakened by the song of coyotes, follow loving couple, feel the cold and listen to the silence. For me, that's what being a photographer is: talking about the real and the unexpected. I have this obsession: to remain evasive in my images, never to treat a subject in a frontal way but rather diverted, as if I was fleeing the confrontation by telling the ring rather than the adversary.
I have always viewed the path of life as the best opportunity to turn away from it and make your conditional choices a trademark, a lifestyle that is reflected in pictures. I don't take photographs for photographers, I tell stories for those who read. I believe in an obsession with doing good for yourself first and foremost, before giving it back to others.
It’s the most beautiful of presents: to give. This allegory of life takes place in my sometimes obsessive way of making images because they are worth nothing if they do not know how to express their heart."
