Behind the Image

by Florian Ledoux

A unique aerial view of a polar bear crossing the ice. The image reveals the changing environment to which the polar bear must adapt. Polar bears rely on the ice to hunt, breed and rest and the breakup of the sea ice earlier in the season increases the energy required to hunt and ultimately, to stay alive. Shot in Nunavut, Canada.
