Behind the Image
Location: Lyngen Fjord, the Arctic, Norway.
Elisabeth Braathen carves the first line in the perfect snow, high above her Lyngen Lodge, built over a decade ago on the banks of the fjord below. It was my earlier visit to ski with Elisabeth and her business partner, Graham Austik that got me back into my photography. I had got to know them in St Anton, where Graham was a Mountain Guide and was captivated by their exciting plan to build a house, way North of the Arctic Circle and then get on a boat every morning to find the best place to ski that day. I bought a new camera especially for my first visit and even upgraded when I went back two years later.
It is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited. A photographer’s dream.
